Jerry Kelly opens the Kaulig Companies Championship with a 65 at Firestone.

Kelly shot 5-under 65 Thursday at Firestone Country Club in Akron, Ohio, and led the PGA Tour Champions major by one after the first round. He won the event at Firestone in 2020 and 2022.

Darren Clarke and Mike Weir each posted 66 to sit one back. Zach Johnson, Ernie Els, Cameron Percy, Y.E. Yang and Soren Kjeldsen were two shots behind at 3 under, with Friday's second round set for 9 a.m. ET.
