Phil Mickelson and Tiger Woods will miss The Open at Royal Birkdale.

Mickelson will not play at Royal Birkdale after entering as a past champion and then withdrawing. He has played one competitive event in 2026 and has missed the year's first three majors.

Woods did not submit an entry before the deadline, leaving him out of all four majors for a second straight year. Sergio Garcia also missed the field after failing to advance through Final Qualifying.
