Two-time PGA Tour winner Davis Riley fired four straight birdies on holes 3-6 during Thursday's first round at the Bank of Utah Championship to reach four under par and temporarily claim the leaderboard lead at Black Desert Resort. The veteran pro needs strong results in Utah as his PGA Tour status for the 2027 season remains in doubt after finishing 111th in the FedEx Cup standings.
Riley dropped to 115th in the fall standings through one previous Fall Series start but showed improved form early in his opening round. He will tee off for Friday's second round at 3:14 p.m. ET alongside Davis Thompson and Stephan Jaeger.
A victory this week would guarantee his playing status for 2027.
