Scottie Scheffler described himself as highly emotional and prone to tears during an appearance on the Pardon My Take podcast ahead of the Presidents Cup. The admission contrasted with his usually calm manner during competition.
Scheffler's emotional side has surfaced publicly before, most notably during the 2023 Ryder Cup at Marco Simone in Rome where cameras captured him in tears on a golf cart after losing his match 9&7 to Viktor Hovland and Ludvig Aberg. He also previously spoke about crying on Sunday morning before his first Masters victory in 2022.
During the same podcast appearance, Scheffler disclosed that teammate Sam Burns had worn a t-shirt featuring Scheffler's 2024 arrest mugshot into the US team room. At his media session at Medinah on September 22, Scheffler maintained his composed public persona and dismissed what he called stupid rumors about problems with the US team.
