Hitchner made a six-foot birdie putt on the first extra hole, then won when Tommy Morrison missed from about four feet. The five players had finished 72 holes tied at 21 under.
The victory was Hitchner's first as a professional and earned him $180,000. The five-player contest tied the record for the largest playoff in Korn Ferry Tour history.
