Joaquin Niemann earns The Open's LIV Golf exemption at Royal Birkdale.

The R&A's LIV Golf category gives one Open place to the highest LIV player not otherwise exempt who is inside the top five of the standings through LIV Dallas. Niemann earned that spot for the 2026 championship.

The 154th Open runs July 16-19 at Royal Birkdale. Sergio Garcia became the first player to qualify through the LIV rankings in 2025, and Niemann follows through the same route this year.
