Jackson Koivun made the cut at the Bank of Utah Championship after an exhausting second round Friday at Black Desert Resort. The 21-year-old admitted he was tired coming off last weekend's Presidents Cup and struggled during most of his round before needing a strong finish to advance to the weekend.

Standing on the ninth tee with 10 holes remaining, Koivun told himself he needed four or five birdies to make the cut. He delivered exactly five birdies over his final 10 holes, including a crucial finish on the par-5 18th hole where his ball nestled against rake lines in the left fairway bunker.

Rather than play conservatively from the difficult lie, Koivun chose to go for the green in two shots. He hit just over the putting surface and dropped a 5-foot putt for birdie to secure his weekend position.

Koivun expressed his competitive mentality after the round, saying he comes to tournaments wanting to win them. He said he was happy to make the cut and have a chance to post two good scores over the weekend rounds.
