Scottie Scheffler and Sam Burns will represent the United States in the opening match of Thursday's four-ball session at the Presidents Cup at Medinah Country Club. The American pair will face International team members Min Woo Lee and Sungjae Im in the first of five matches scheduled for the tournament's opening day at 12:35 p.m. ET.
U.S. captain Brandt Snedeker and International captain Geoff Ogilvy announced their pairings Wednesday evening, with each side fielding 10 of their 12 players. The other American pairings include Cameron Young and Xander Schauffele against Hideki Matsuyama and Ryo Hisatsune, Justin Thomas and Jackson Koivun facing Corey Conners and Nico Echavarria, Wyndham Clark and Collin Morikawa against Ryan Fox and Adam Scott, and Chris Gotterup and Patrick Cantlay taking on Tom Kim and Si Woo Kim.
The Scheffler-Burns pairing returns despite going 0-3-1 together across the 2022 Presidents Cup and 2023 Ryder Cup. All five Thursday matches will follow four-ball format, where the lowest score from each two-man team counts on every hole. Golf Channel will provide television coverage from 12:30 to 7 p.m. ET at Medinah No. 3 in Chicago.
