Jake Knapp has surgery to repair a ligament in his left thumb.

Knapp said the surgery was successful but did not give a return date. He finished 38th in the FedExCup standings after tying for 41st at the BMW Championship.

His top-50 finish secured his PGA Tour card and places in next season's Signature Events. The FedExCup Fall Series begins September 17.
