The Connecticut tournament became the first event officially added to the new top-tier series. Championship Series events will offer purses of at least $20 million and generally feature the Tour's leading players.
The series is expected to include about 23 or 24 events from February through August, including the majors, Players Championship, postseason and international team competitions.
