Lucas Herbert and Sam Burns tie the men's major scoring record with second-round 62s at The Open.

Herbert missed a five-foot par putt on Royal Birkdale's 18th hole and finished eight under. Burns matched him two groups later by holing a greenside bunker shot for his third consecutive birdie.

Herbert's round moved him to eight under for the championship, while Burns climbed from three over to five under. Their 62s also matched The Open record first set by Branden Grace in 2017.
