Cameron Smith replaces his longtime blade putter with a prototype mallet at The Open.

Smith put a custom Scotty Cameron Phantom 3 mid-mallet into play at Royal Birkdale after years with the blade-style putter he used to win the 2022 Open.

He shot a three-over 73 and lost 0.55 strokes to the field in putting during the opening round. Ludvig Aberg also switched from a blade to the Phantom 3.
