The R&A believes Portmarnock can host The Open as talks with Ireland continue.

R&A chief executive Mark Darbon said a feasibility study confirmed that Portmarnock could accommodate The Open. The organization is discussing a long-term hosting model for The Open and the AIG Women's Open with the Irish government.
