Sam Burns will play The Open after his daughter arrived early.

Burns had planned to miss The Open because his wife Caroline was due to give birth July 14. Their daughter Belle arrived July 3, and Caroline encouraged him to travel to Royal Birkdale.

Burns reached Southport on Monday after going at least four days without swinging a club. He played nine-hole practice rounds each day and joined Scottie Scheffler on Wednesday morning.
