Lucas Politano takes a one-shot lead into the Vermont Amateur finale.

Politano shot 66 in the second round at Ekwanok Country Club, closing with four birdies over his final six holes. The 2024 champion reached 4 under through 36 holes, one stroke ahead of first-round leader Alex Leonard.

Leonard followed with a 68 to sit at 3 under. Garren Poirier and Evan Russell, both former champions, were tied for third at even par, and the top 40 plus ties advanced to Thursday's 36-hole finish.
